Frequently Asked Questions

Are celebrant led ceremonies legally binding?

In many regions, a celebrant ceremony is symbolic rather than legal. Couples typically complete the legal paperwork separately at a registry office. Your celebrant ceremony is the personalised celebration shared with your loved ones.

Can we include religious or cultural elements?

Yes. Celebrant ceremonies are fully customisable. You may include religious readings, symbolic rituals (like sand ceremony or unity candles), cultural traditions or keep the ceremony completely non religious. It’s entirely your choice.

Will we see the ceremony script beforehand?

Yes. You have full approval of the script and can request changes at any stage. If you prefer some surprises, we can keep certain sections hidden.

Can we write our own vows?

Yes! You can write your own vows, or work with me to craft them together. I can offer full support if you’d like help with wording or structure.

What does a celebrant do?

A celebrant creates and delivers personalised ceremonies including weddings, vow renewals, naming ceremonies and funerals that reflect your story, values and beliefs. Unlike a registrar, a celebrant offers complete flexibility with wording, structure and location.

Do you personalise every ceremony?

Absolutely. Each ceremony is written from scratch after getting to know you through meetings, questionnaires or interviews. Your story, personalities and values guide the whole script.

Where can we hold the ceremony?

Anywhere you like indoors, outdoors, private venues, beaches, gardens, forests, homes or unique spaces that may not be approved for legal ceremonies. A celebrant ceremony gives you complete freedom.

How long does the ceremony usually last?

Most ceremonies run between 20–35 minutes, and usually up to 45 minutes, depending on readings, rituals and the level of personalisation. We can tailor it to be shorter or longer.

Can we involve friends and family?

Absolutely! Loved ones can participate with readings, music, rituals or even sharing parts of your story. Your ceremony can be as collaborative as you’d like.

How far do you travel?

I travel across East Sussex and beyond. Travel within Eastbourne and localy is included; additional mileage charges or accommodation may apply for longer distances. I can travel abroad to do your ceremony if you wish.

What are your fees?

Fees vary depending on the type of ceremony, location, and any additional elements you’d like included. Contact me for a personalised quote.

Rehearsals?

Rehearsals are available upon request. They help you feel more confident and ensure everyone knows their roles before the big day.

How do we book with you?

Get in touch through the contact me form, email, or phone to check availability. Dates can fill up quickly, so early booking is recommended.

What happens after we book you?

Once your date is secured:

  • We arrange a meeting to get to know each other.
  • I gather your story, preferences and ideas.
  • I draft your ceremony script for review.
  • We refine it together until it feels perfect.
  • I conduct your ceremony on the day and support you every step of the way.
